The Shaker Museum and Library Today

The Shaker Museum and Library holds the world’s largest collection of Shaker objects, including furniture, tools, equipment, clothing, textiles, photographs, archival records and other artifacts. You can browse some of our amazing collection and learn about its beginnings. Intimate Members-only tours of the collection are conducted on a regular basis.

This collection is currently housed in original farm buildings in Old Chatham, NY and though the main collection is not accessible to the general public, the Museum hosts curated pop-up exhibitions and lends objects from its collection to other select institutions.

A new permanent home for our collection and activities of the museum is being constructed in the nearby on Austerlitz Street in the Village of Chatham, NY. And shortly, we will be moving our operations staff into a new administration building and library on Jones Avenue in Chatham.

The Shaker Museum and Library, chartered in 1950, is a 501C(3) Non-Profit Corporation.
